Giorgio Ferroni

Giorgio Ferroni ( born April 12, 1908 in Perugia, † August 17, 1981 in Rome ) was an Italian film director and documentary filmmaker.

Life

Ferroni had studied law and held for several months in 1932 the Office of the Vizeprätors in Naples and spent some time working as a film critic. In 1933 he became assistant Gennaro Righelli and turned documentary short films, two of which were excellent, the Istituto Luce; then he was technical manager at Incom (1938 ) and in the own company Ferroni Cortometraggi. His feature film debut was in 1937 the Italian version of Kurt Gerron, Three Wishes. The subsequent semi- documentary L' ebbrezza del cielo, which was partially shot in color, has received enthusiastic reviews of contemporary critics. The documentary film - another highlight was his 1956 incurred Vertigine bianca - Ferroni remained connected until the late 1950s; again and again he scattered feature films in his work. From 1960 he turned exclusively to the genre film and created more than average entertainment goods, including the early horror film The mill of fossilized women and three spaghetti westerns with lead actor Giuliano Gemma. From 1965 he used the pseudonym Calvin Jackson Padget.

Ferroni was married to actress Nada Fiorelli.

Awards

At the Venice Film Festival he was awarded in 1936 for Pompeii and 1938 for the short film Armonie pucciniane each a price.
