Giorgio Mondini

Giorgio Mondini ( born July 19, 1980 in Vandœuvres ) is a Swiss race car driver.

Career

Mondini began his motor racing career at the age of 21 years at Jenzer Motorsport in the Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup. In his first year he reached the 26th place, in the following year he was ranked 17th Moreover, he raced in various Formula Renault championships and won a race in the Swiss Formula Renault.

In 2003, Mondini to Euro International in the Formula Renault V6 Eurocup. With a fourth place as best result he finished in seventh place in the overall standings. He also took part in the International Euro for Winter Series of the North American Formula Renault and finished the championship in fifth place from. In 2004, he won this series with three individual victories and eight podium finishes.

2005 moved Mondini in the World Series by Renault, which replaced the World Series by Nissan and the Eurocup Formula Renault V6. He took for Euro International and Carlin Motorsport part in some race weekends and finished the season in 24th place overall. Halfway through the 2005 season Mondini moved to the GP2 Series and replaced Ryan Sharp at David Price Racing. With a 13th place as best result he finished at the end of the season without points 26th place overall. At the end of the year, he completed his first Formula 1 test for Renault.

Mondini was launched in 2006 initially for the Swiss A1 Grand Prix team. He participated in the last two race weekends in part and unfastened his compatriot Neel Jani from .. He was hired in 2006 as a Formula 1 test driver for the team MF1 Racing, but he came in nine of the 18 Formula 1 race of the season as the third driver in Friday practice for use. In 2007 he participated for Euro International at the final race weekend of the World Series by Renault and finished the season in 40th place. In addition, Mondini took part in a 2007 race in the FIA GT Championship and won a race in the Spanish GT Championship.

After a one year break in 2009 Mondini returned to international motor sport back. For the team Kolles he started to three races in the LMP1 class of the Le Mans Series. In addition, he participated for Kolles on 24 -hour race of Le Mans and finished it in ninth place.

In February 2011, Mondini participated in Formula 1 test driving for HRT.
