Giorgio Stivanello

Giorgio Stivanello ( born July 13, 1932 in Venice, † 18 May, 2010 Vicenza ) was an Italian football player.

Career

Giorgio Stivanello began his career as a classical winger in the club of his hometown, the FBC Venice. In 1953 he moved to Calcio Padova in Serie B, with which he became Nereo Rocco taking in the Serie A in 1954/55. His debut in Italy's top flight of the Venetians celebrated on 18 September 1955, the 1-2 home defeat against Lazio. Nevertheless, the Biancoscudati with eighth place were 1955/56, confidently secure the league, including Stivanello contributed six goals in 33 games.

For the season 1956/57, Giorgio Stivanello moved to Juventus, where he was employed on his favorite position and striker John Charles and Omar Sívori supplied with edges. Overall Stivanello played six years at Juve, in the first three seasons, he was a regular force, then a reserve player. He played his best season this 1956/57, when he scored eleven Serie A goals and was with Antonio Montico best scorer of his team. During his time in Turin the winger won the Scudetto three times and twice the Coppa Italia.

1962 was Giorgio Stivanello, now 30 years old, returned to Venice, where he 1962/63 with seven inserts, two goals and relegation to Serie B ended his Serie A career. In the season 1963/64, he ran for Jesi Calcio in Serie D, then ended his active career Stivanello final.

Overall, Giorgio Stivanello completed 115 games in Italy's top flight, scoring 25 goals. His son Piero ( born 1957 ) was also a professional footballer and played 1974/75 for Lane Rossi Vicenza in Serie A and even increased at the end of the season with the team in the second division, where he finally came to two inserts.

Giorgio Stivanello died on 18 May 2010 at the age of 77 years in Vicenza, where he lived since end of his career, and was buried on 21 May.
