Giorgos Lillikas

Giorgos Lillikas, Greek Γιώργος Λιλλήκας ( born June 1, 1960 in Panagia ) is a Greek- Cypriot politician and former Minister of Cyprus.

Life

Lillikas studied Political Science and Oriental Studies in Lyon and Grenoble.

Policy

While he initially seemed pursue an academic career in France, he became an adviser to the Cypriot President George Vassiliou in the late 1980s. Then he engaged for several years in the anti -drug policy and advocated for the disabled.

After a stage in the private sector - 1993 to 1996 he headed a PR and lobbying agency - 1996, he was for the left-wing AKEL MP. During the following seven years, he held various parliamentary duties and functions with an international element; so he led the Cypriot delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

After the 2003 election took place Tassos Papadopoulos ' to the President of Cyprus Lillikas was trade and industry minister. After a cabinet change in 2006, he was Foreign Minister and remained so until 16 July 2007.
