Giovan Battista Carpi

Giovan Battista Carpi ( born November 16, 1927 in Genoa, † March 8, 1999 ibid ) was a leading Italian comic artists and authors. As one of the first drawing, he drew both the Ducks and stories from the mouse universe in the same quality. Carpi is considered one of the most important artist of Disney parodies, he was also instrumental in the invention of the character Phantomias.

Already in 1945 he made his first drawings after he had been trained as a visual artist with the painter Giacomo Picollo. In 1953 he was hired by Disney, where he worked at the beginning with Giulio Chierchini. There he began his parodies, including at Victo Hugo's Les Misérables. In the 1960s he began to then turn the mouse universe. In 1969, he drew the first story with Phantomias, but he used this character then only very rarely.
