Giovanna Mezzogiorno

Giovanna Mezzogiorno ( born November 9, 1974 in Rome) is an Italian film and theater actress.

Life

As the daughter of actor Vittorio Mezzogiorno and Cecilia Saachi Mezzogiorno grew up with the show business. Her acting training she received at the Centre International de Créations Théâtrales with Peter Brook, one of the most important contemporary theater directors. At the beginning of her film career in 1997, the award-winning feature film Il viaggio della sposa ( The Bride's Journey ) stood. Their first international engagement was Mezzogiorno 2000 for a supporting role in Les Miserables with Gérard Depardieu and John Malkovich. The following year, she starred in the award-winning film L'ultimo bacio ( The Last Kiss ), for which it was for the David di Donatello, the price of the Italian Film Academy nominated.

Mezzogiorno in 2010 was appointed to the jury of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival.

Awards

2003 Mezzogiorno for the window opposite the David di Donatello Award for best leading role in the price of the Italian Film Critics for Best Actress, and the prize for Best Actress at the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic). With the Coppa Volpi for Best Actress she received in 2005 for the presentation of Sabina in Cristina La bestia nel cuore Comencinis film at the Film Festival in Venice another important international award.
