Giovanni Benedetto Platti

Giovanni Benedetto Platti ( German also: Platt), (* (probably ) July 9, 1697 (according to other sources: about 1690, 1692, 1700 ) in Padua, † January 11, 1763 in Würzburg ) was an Italian oboist and composer of the late Baroque.

Life

Platti received his musical training in Italy (especially vocals, oboe, violin); even in these early Italian years of his work ( until 1722) he met in Siena fortepiano developed by Bartolomeo Cristofori from 1711 ( fortepiano) know and already composed specially sonatas.

In 1722 he was brought in as oboe virtuoso to Würzburg in the service of the prince-bishops of Bamberg and Würzburg, where in the same year Fortunato Chelleri as Kapellmeister (up to 1725) was employed. Until his death in 1763 Platti remained at the Würzburg court operates, from 1729 as a singer, singing teacher and violinist.
