Giovanni Gronchi

Giovanni Gronchi ( born September 10, 1887 in Pontedera, † 17 October 1978) was the third President of the Republic of Italy from 1955 until 1962.

Gronchi, who belonged to the Christian Democrats, was 1948-1955 President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and was elected on 29 April 1955 the President of Italy. The Office, he took up on 11 May of the same year.
