Giovanni Piccolomini

Giovanni Piccolomini ( born October 9, 1475 Siena, † November 21, 1537 ) was a Cardinal of the Catholic Church.

Life

Since 1503 the Archbishop of Siena, Pope Leo X raised him on 1 July 1517 and made him cardinal on July 6, 1517, Cardinal Priest of the titular church of S. Sabina. After he had changed on 11 June 1521 the titular church of S. Balbina, Piccolomini 1522 Bishop of Sion ( Switzerland ) and the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of July 6, 1523 Aquila. Since July 24, 1524, Cardinal Bishop of Albano, he was on November 14, 1524 also Apostolic Administrator of the diocese Umbriatico. After he had renounced on July 3, 1525 the Patriarchate of Aquileia, he resigned on April 7, 1529 on the Archdiocese of Siena. Also on the diocese Umbriatico he resigned on 20 March 1531 and eventually moved on 22 September 1531 the diocese Cardinal Palestrina and from there on September 26, 1533 to the bishopric of Porto- Santa Rufina, Cardinal. He was associate dean of the College of Cardinals. When he finally, on February 26, 1535 changed to the cardinal bishopric of Ostia, he was dean of the College of Cardinals.
