Giovanni Pisano

Giovanni Pisano (* around 1250 in Pisa; † after 1314 in Siena) was a goldsmith, ore caster, sculptor and architect.

Life

Pisano, son and pupil of Niccolò Pisano, initially worked under his father at the pulpit of the Cathedral of Siena and the Fontane Maggiore in Perugia, he had participated since 1290 on the sculptures of the facade of the cathedral at Orvieto, in which at first the subjective, striving for individualization element of Italian sculpture manifests.
