Ivory Coast

Giovanni -Guy Yann Sio ( born March 31, 1989 in Saint- Sébastien- sur -Loire ) is a French- Ivorian football player.

Career

Clubs

Sio began his career at the junior department of FC Nantes. In summer 2007, he joined the second team of Real Sociedad, which rose in the summer of 2008 in the Segunda División. In September 2009, he signed a contract with the Swiss club FC Sion. In the 2010/11 season he won the Swiss Cup with the club from the canton of Valais. In Sion Sio was traded a great talent, because he had scored in the championship season of 2010/11 ten goals in 30 games.

During the winter break of 2011/12 Sio moved to VfL Wolfsburg. He signed a three and a half -year contract until 30 June 2015. On Saturday, January 21, 2012, he made his Bundesliga debut against 1 FC Cologne ( 1-0), as it Felix Magath in the 74th minute for ja-Cheol Koo einwechselte.

When walking into the changing rooms, he showed the Fürth grandstand middle finger raised. The sports court imposed a period of four competitive games.

End of January 2013 sparked Sio his loan contract at FC Augsburg early on and moved on loan until the end of the season 2012/13 to the French first division club FC Sochaux. In August 2013 Sio joined for three million euros to FC Basel. He signed a four-year contract.

National

Giovanni Sio played several games for the U 's national teams of France until he decided on the Ivory Coast. Since 2013 he is member of the Ivorian national team. On November 16, 2013, was with his team for the Football World Cup 2014 qualifying against Senegal in Brazil.
