Giovanni Valentini

Giovanni Valentini (* 1582/1583 in Venice, . † 29-30 April 1649 in Vienna ) was an Italian organist and composer.

Life

Valentini was educated probably at Giovanni Gabrieli. In 1604 he became a member of the court orchestra, King Sigismund III. Vasa of Poland. Through marriages of the king with two sisters of Archduke Ferdinand II, Valentini came to the archduke court in Graz. In the court orchestra he is confirmed as "new angenombner camerorganist from Pol ." When Ferdinand was crowned emperor in 1619, he took his chapel organist and Valentini to Vienna. 1629 he is imperial court music and in 1637 by Ferdinand III. taken also as " masterly cappel ". His task was not only the composition of his own works, but also the emperor to support his compositions and correct.
