Giravanz Kitakyushu

Giravanz Kitakyushu (Japaneseギラヴァンツ 北九州, Giravantsu Kitakyushu ) is a Japanese football club based in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture.

The association name " Giravanz " consists of the two Italian words " Girasole " (Eng. sunflower) and " Avanzare " (Eng. precede ). The sunflower is the hallmark Kitakyūshūs.

History

The club was founded in 1947 as part of the chemical company Mitsubishi Kagaku ( engl. Mitsubishi Chemical) under the name of Mitsubishi Kagaku Kurosaki Football Club (三菱化学 黒崎 フットボール クラブ, Mitsubishi Kagaku Kurosaki Futtobōru Kurabu ). Since 1973, the club played in the regional league of Kyushu and dissolved around 1990 the top local club FC from New Nippon Steel. In 2001 it was renamed the New Wave Kitakyushu (ニュー ウェーブ 北九州, NYU Webu Kitakyushu ).

2007 reaches New Wave nationwide regional leagues series in second place and thus qualified for the following season of the JFL.

On 1 April 2009, the club told to change his name because the term " New Wave " an already registered mark is the club name and thus violates the trademark

The new club name by which the association would present from the 2010, was announced today in its existing form 2 October 2009.

On November 23, 2009, after a 2-1 away win against Arte Takasaki, Kitakyushu had a place among the top four in the JFL safe and thus qualified for the 2010 season for the J. League Division 2

Despite many draw Giravanza Kitakyushu set a new negative record of the League in their first year of professional football. They reached the fewest victories and thus the lowest points haul in a season.
