Giro di Castelbuono

The Giro di Castelbuono (full name podistico Giro Internazionale Castelbuono ) is the oldest road race in Italy. It takes place intermittently since 1912 in Castelbuono always Anne Festival ( July 25 to 27 ). 2012, the event has been moved because of the time close to the Olympic Games in London on 16 September. Is organized by the city run by Gruppo Atletico Polisportivo Castelbuonese.

Start and finish in Piazza Margherita. Gelaufen is traditionally on a 1.12 km long hilly circuit in the city center, which had to be up to 2010 times overcome. Due to the cramped conditions only invited top athletes can start and lapped runners will be taken out of the race. Since 2011, only nine laps to be run, so the distance is reduced to 10 km. From 1995 to 2004 there was also a women's race on a 5.6 km long course.

In the years 1915-19, 1929-30, 1936, 1940-41, 1943-45 and 1958, the event turned out.
