Giro di Padania

Monviso Venezia- Il Padania (2011: Giro di Padania, dt Padania Tour ) is a former road bicycle race, which was held in 2011 and 2012 in northern Italy as a stage race. The competition was part of the UCI Europe Tour and classified in category 2.1.

Padania is a one hand geographical term that refers to the Po Valley, and on the other hand describes the region that want to get out to solve the separatist Northern League party from Italy. Because of the Giro di Padania name and because there were connections between the organizers of the race and the Northern League, was at the Erstaustragung in 2011 by advocates of Italian unity, especially on the political left, regarded the race as separatist propaganda event. In the result, there were demonstrations, blockade of the race and sometimes attacks against cyclist.

The originally planned discharge of 2013 was canceled.
