Girolamo Giacobbi

Girolamo Giacobbi ( Giacobi ) ( baptized on August 10, 1567 in Bologna, † February 1629 ) was an Italian choirmaster, conductor and composer.

He had been a chorister at the Cathedral of San Petronimo his hometown and grew up there as Director of Music at ( 1604-1628 ). He founded in Bologna, the " Accademia dei Filomusi " after the " Accademia Filarmonica " the second Academy of his native town, which was devoted to the cultivation of music.

He created a large number of sacred works of all genres, was in particular but also in the field of opera active. His work " L' Aurora ingannata " was the first opera ever listed in Bologna in 1608. Giacobbi stood on his time as a composer in high esteem.
