Girolamo Muziano

Girolamo Muziano called Le Mutien (* 1528 in Maratea, † 1592 in Rome) was an Italian painter.

Life

Muziano studied in Brescia and Venice, where he was influenced by Titian. He visited Rome 1548, and received with the help of some of Michelangelo's larger orders. Muziano reached the peak of his career under Pope Gregory XIII. , Who appointed him inspector of works of art of the Vatican. His masterpiece is " The Resurrection of Saint Lazarus ", which he had originally painted for the church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. Muziano joined the talent for the presentation of figures with a sense of landscapes, of which he made use in the design of its native surroundings of Brescia. He was one of the founders of the Accademia di San Luca.
