Girolamo Muzio

Girolamo Muzio (* 1496 in Padua, † 1576 in La Paneretta at Siena ) was an Italian writer.

Life

Muzio spent most of his life as a courtier at the various Italian courts and died in La Paneretta near Siena. He wrote several volumes of poetry and essays on various topics, including " Battaglie per la lingua difesa dell'italica ", in which he defended the Italian language. Equally important are his treatises against the Reformation. In one of his last works, published a year before his death, he proposed the unification of Italy. Girolamo Muzio dedicated to the famous poet and courtesan Tullia d' Aragona, many of his poems.

He is known as author of Poetics ( 1551 ).
