Girona FC

Girona FC is a Spanish football club from the city of Girona, Catalonia. The club was founded in 1930 playing in the 2010/11 season in the Segunda División.

History

The Girona FC was founded on July 25, 1930 from the merger of several regional clubs, which arose in the 1920s in the Catalan city. One of these clubs was the Unio Esportiva Girona. The best season in club history was the season in 1935/36 when they first Segunda División was. Solely the Spanish Civil War was able to prevent the advance of the Catalans in Spain's elite league.

Between Second and Third League Girona plays for decades without ever jump in the Primera División succeeded.

Stadium

The Girona FC play in the Estadi Municipal de Montilivi, which has a capacity of 9,500 spectators.
