Girton College, Cambridge

Founded in 1869 by Emily Davies as " College for Women " was the Girton College, the first women's college in Britain. Although since 1979, men are allowed to study here is the main concern of the colleges of equal access to higher education for students of all social groups and nationalities.

History

Girton College began as a residential community consisting of five students in Hitchin in Hertfordshire. Back in 1873, the main building of the college was about five kilometers northwest of the center of Cambridge near the village of Girton, who owes it to his name, was built.
