Gischow

Gischow is a municipality in the district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Eldenburg Lübz with headquarters in the city Lübz.

Geography and transport

The community is located about two kilometers south of Lübz in Eldeniederung. Larger surveys are in the north to 74.3 m above sea level. NHN. South of the town Gischow the forest area is Burower firs. East of the municipality runs the Müritz -Elde - Waterway and north of State Road 191

The municipality consists of the villages of Burow and Gischow. From the districts, there are the smaller settlement Meier mountain.

History

Gischow was first mentioned in documents as Gissekow in 1304. The village name comes from the old Slavic locator jesik, so place the jesik.

Attractions

The village church in Gischow is a simple half-timbered church dating back to 1715, of which the master is conspicuously covered with Virginia creeper. The lattice tower has a spire at its peak there is a reconstructed in the first decade of the 21st century weather vane with construction date and Mecklenburg bull's head. The brick facade of the lower tower section is from the years around 1900. Interior of the church to include a Gothic triptych and a baroque pulpit. On a wooden panel of the organ loft is a Latin motto as chronogram construction date re-encrypted. A Gischower church was first mentioned in 1304.
