Gísli Pálsson

Gisli Pálsson ( * 1949 in the Westman Islands, Iceland ) is an Icelandic writer and university teacher.

Life

Gisli was born in the West Man Islands south of Iceland and grew up there. He is now (2012 ) professor of anthropology at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik. He is author or co- author of more than a dozen books that deal with ethnological topics and explorers, such as with Vilhjálmur Stefánsson.

Gisli is a member of the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland, London.

Honors and Awards

  • 2000 Rosenstiel Award in Oceanographic Science at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and athmospheric Science at the University of Miami, Miami, Florida, USA.
