Gitane Demone

Gitane Demone ( born May 16, 1958 in San Francisco, California) is an American musician (keyboards, vocals). Demones roots in punk and gothic rock, other influences can be found in jazz and singers like Billie Holiday. In the 1980s Demone was a member of the bands Christian Death and Pompeii 99, and since then she has been working more or less as a solo artist. Sensation it excites always been not only through their music but also by their appearance, similar to S & M-mode, what you earned comparisons with Madonna, as the naughty " cousin " from the underground.

Pompeii 99 and Christian Death

At Pompeii 99 Demons came on a petition by bandleader Valor Kand. The two became lovers and Demons 1984 brought the son Sevan to the world. A little later, Pompeii was 99 in Christian Death, whose member Demone to 1989, the year of their separation from Valor remained.

Further career

Her solo career began with a series of EPs Gitane. In the 90s, she toured with her old bandmate Rozz Williams of Christian Death. Together they took in 1995 an album of cover versions. Under the project name Demonix she played with Mark Ickx from the Belgian band A Split - Second, a one album. In 1997 she took under his own name on the album Am I Wrong. As a singer she has appeared in American and European bands. It also published a compilation with the songs they sang at Christian Death. In 1999 followed in collaboration with the band Dreadful Shadows a second solo album Stars of Trash. Since 2006 she plays with her daughter Zara Kand in the band The Crystelles.

The double-disc Life After Death offers a cross -section of their career, including a live recording of a performance with Rozz Williams.
