Gitanes

Gitanes (French plural for gypsy ) is a French brand of cigarettes; existing since 1910 cigarettes are manufactured by Altadis and distributed in Germany by British American Tobacco. In France, the brand is very popular, less common in Germany. The packaging of the famous variant is blue and because of their unusual handling - it is pushed from below - known. In 2008, Altadis was acquired by the British Imperial Tobacco Group PLC. Thus, the cigarette in Germany by Reemtsma is sold, which are part of the Imperial Tobacco Group. Since April 2010, the cigarettes are thinner, the package smaller and the tobacco has a milder composition.

The designation " Light" has been banned since 30 September 2003 for tobacco products within the EU due to the EU Case C-491/01. The ECJ has confirmed the ban before entry into force. The former product Gitanes Blondes Lights now carries the name Gitanes Blanc.

In " Gitanes Maïs " corn paper will take a normal cigarette paper used, the more enhanced the already strong effect of all Gitanes ( just not in the Blonde ) used black tobacco. This option may not be sold in Germany.

To a wider mass was known by her 1976-1995 ongoing commitment as the main sponsor of the French Formula 1 teams Ligier the brand. They were also involved in jazz and gave, among others, the French Universal Jazz in Paris a series of approximately 113 CD reissues out.
