Giuliana Salce

Giuliana Salce ( born June 16, 1955 in Rome ) is a former Italian race walker.

Achievements

She won in 1981 the first Italian championship in 3000 -meter indoor walking and remained until 1987 at the National Indoor Championships undefeated. Under the open sky Salce was from 1982 to 1984 as well as 1987 champion over 5km and 1984, over 10 km.

In 1983, Salce a world record 5 km, 1984, about 3 km on. The IAAF World Indoor Games in Paris in 1985 were the first major international championships, where the woman walking on the program. In 12:53,42 min Salce won with over ten seconds ahead of their rivals. At the European Indoor Championships 1987 in Liévin Salce was second behind Natallja Dmitratschenka from the USSR. 14 days later she succumbed at the World Indoor Championships in 1987 with Olga Krischtop again a Soviet race walker. Outdoors at the World Athletics Championships 1987 in her hometown of Rome Salce came on the 18th Place.
