Giulio Ricordi

Giulio Ricordi ( born December 19, 1840 in Milan, † June 6, 1912 ibid ) was an Italian music publisher who was CEO since 1858 and since 1888 head of Milan's famous Casa Ricordi.

The son Tito Ricordi was versatile: as a writer, painter, composer ( opera La Secchia rapita under the name Julesburg My ) and businessman. Under his leadership, the publishing house of Ricordi reached the peak of its development. He expanded the publisher to Naples, Florence (1865 ), Rome ( 1871), London (1878 ) and Palermo and Paris ( 1888) and was the publisher Vincenzo Bellini (posthumous ) of the late operas of Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini's operas. In addition, he secured the publisher the Italian rights to the works of Richard Wagner. From 1866 headed the Ricordi La gazzetta musicale di Milano. In 1879 he founded the Società del Teatro alla Scala Orchestral.
