Giulio Serafini

Cardinal Giulio Serafini ( born October 12, 1867 in Bolsena, Viterbo, Italy, † July 16, 1938 in Rome) was Bishop of Pescia and cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Giulio Serafini received his education in the seminary of Orvieto. He then studied in Rome Catholic theology and a doctorate, both in canon law as well as civil law. On April 6, 1890, he received the Sacrament of Holy Orders. After further studies, he taught from 1895 to 1901 at the Department of Orvieto, the initiated as rain from 1897. In 1901 he was in Rome seminar leader and lecturer at the Pontifical University of St. Apollinaris.

1907 he was appointed by Pope Pius X. Bishop of Pescia. The bishop ordained Giulio Serafini by the Vicar General of Rome, Cardinal Pietro Respighi. On behalf of the Pope Giulio Serafini visitierte several seminars in Italy. In 1908 he was Prefect of Studies of the Pontifical Roman Seminary in Rome. Pope Pius XI. appointed him in 1925 to the Secretary of the Congregation Council, on 30 June 1930, he took it as a cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva in the College of Cardinals. In the same year Giulio Serafini was appointed Prefect of the Congregation Council, which he headed until 1938. Several years stood Giulio Serafini also the Pontifical Commission for the Authentic Interpretation of the Code of Canon Law.

Giulio Serafini died on 16 July 1938 in Rome and was buried in the Basilica of Santa Maria sopra Minerva.
