Giuseppe Bernardazzi

Giuseppe Bernardazzi junior ( born August 13, 1816 in Pambio in Lugano, Ticino, † January 15, 1891 ) was a Swiss architect and painter.

After studying architecture in Milan, he went to Saint Petersburg, where he received orders for the residence and the Winter Palace among others. From 1845 to 1855, he worked on the Firmness and securing works of Sevastopol on the occasion of the Crimean War. How big was his share, is controversial: some it is believed that he was responsible for planning, some of it is referred to only as the executive body. In 1859 he returned to Switzerland. There he worked among other things as a teacher, architect and painter.

In the family archives of Bernardazzi documents and writings, plans and sketches, as well as a portrait of Giuseppe Bernardazzi are kept.
