Giuseppe Cavanna

Giuseppe Cavanna ( born September 19, 1905 in Vercelli, Italy, † 1976) was an Italian football goalkeeper.

Although he never played a senior international for Italy, he was able in 1934 to celebrate with the Azzurri winning the World Cup title. Cavanna was an uncle of Silvio Piola, with 274 hits the most successful to date scorers in the history of Serie A.

Career

Giuseppe Cavanna came from the youth division of Pro Vercelli, for whom he debuted in the Italian championship in 1925. From 1929 to 1936 he played for Napoli and could each reach third place in Serie A with the team 1932/33 and 1933/34. After a stopover at Benevento Calcio in Serie C Cavanna returned in 1937 to Pro Vercelli, where he ended his active career in 1939.

After six B- internationals in 1931 Giuseppe Cavanna was appointed in 1934 by coach Vittorio Pozzo as a substitute goalkeeper in the squad of the Italians for the World Cup in their own country and was so even though he never played a senior international for Italy, Football World Cup.
