Giuseppe Fietta

Giuseppe Cardinal Fietta ( born November 6, 1883 in Ivrea, Province of Turin, Italy, † October 1, 1960 ) was a Vatican diplomat.

Life

Giuseppe Fietta studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University, the subjects Catholic theology and philosophy. He received 4 November 1906, the sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked as a personal secretary to the Bishop of Alghero, Cagliari and Oristano. In the years 1923 and 1924 Giuseppe Fietta led the seminar of Alghero and worked as pastoral Kathedralkanoniker to the local bishop's church.

Pope Pius XI. appointed him in 1924 as secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature in Costa Rica, 1926 Internuncio in Central America. 1926 He received his episcopal consecration Cardinal Giovanni Bonzano after Fietta of Pius XI. was appointed Titular Archbishop of Serdica. In the same year Giuseppe Fietta received the appointment as apostolic nuncio to Central America. 1930 appointed him Apostolic Nuncio to the Pope Haiti, 1936, he entrusted him with the same task in Argentina. Pope Pius XII. 1953 appointed him Apostolic Nuncio to Italy. Pope John XXIII. took him on 15 December 1958 as cardinal priest with the pro hac vice levied for the titular church of San Paolo alla Regola title diakonia to the College of Cardinals. Giuseppe Fietta died on 1 October 1960 in Ivrea, and was buried in the local cathedral.
