Giuseppe Pancera

Giuseppe Pancera ( born January 10, 1901 in Castelnuovo del Garda, † April 19, 1977 ) was an Italian cyclist.

Giuseppe Pancera was a professional racing car driver 1925 until 1934. His greatest successes were a second place at the Tour de France in 1929 and the Giro d'Italia in 1928, respectively ( behind Alfredo Binda ). In total he participated ten times a Giro, four times on the tour, and five times at the Vuelta a España,

1927 won Pancera at the 540 km long race Rome-Naples - Rome with a 430 km long single trip and 70 minutes ahead of the second. 1926 and 1927 he won the Coppa Bernocchi. In 1927 he was third in the Italian road championship and in 1931 by the Paris-Brest - Paris.

Prior to his cycling career Pancera worked as a journeyman baker. With 33 years Pancera heard with the racing on, married and opened a cafe. In 1969, he lost a leg after he had been run over by a car while cycling.
