Giuseppe Paupini

Giuseppe Cardinal Paupini ( born February 25, 1907 in Mondavio, Pesaro and Urbino, Italy, † July 18, 1992 in Rome ) was a Vatican diplomat and later became a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Giuseppe Fano Paupini studied in Rome and the subjects of philosophy and Catholic theology. He received on 19 March 1930, the sacrament of Holy Orders. After further studies, he worked from 1932 as a parish priest and lecturer in the diocese of Fano. In the years from 1939 to 1947 and 1951 to 1956 he was on the staff of the Vatican Secretariat of State from 1947 to 1951 he worked for the Apostolic Nunciature in Honduras, Nicaragua and Cuba.

1956 Pope Pius XII appointed him. Titular Archbishop of Sebastopolis in Abasgia and Internuncio in Iran. The bishop ordained Giuseppe Paupini on 26 February of the same by the prefect of the Congregation for the people consecrated life, Valerio Cardinal Valeri. From 1957 to 1959 he headed the Apostolic Nunciature in Guatemala and El Salvador, 1959, he was Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia. He participated in the years 1962-1965 at the Second Vatican Council. Pope Paul VI. took him on 28 April 1969 as a cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia Ognissanti in Via Appia Nuova in the College of Cardinals, and appointed him in 1973 Kardinalgroßpönitentiar (head of the Apostolic Penitentiary ). He took in August 1978 and in October 1978 participate in the conclave. On June 30, 1979, he was charged while maintaining its title Diakonia cardinal priest. On April 8, 1984, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation due to age, so that Paupini retired from active service in the Roman Curia at the age of 77 years. Giuseppe Paupini died on 18 July 1992 85 years in Rome and was buried in Mondavio.
