Giuseppe Piccioni

Giuseppe Piccioni ( born July 2, 1953 in Ascoli Piceno ) is an Italian film director and screenwriter.

Life

After studying sociology at the University of Urbino, he attended the Scuola di Gaumont cinema, a private film school, which existed only a few years and was led by Renzo Rossellini Jr. between 1980 and 1983. He then worked as a director for advertising films. In 1985 he founded with Domenico Procacci the film production company Vertigo film that his first feature film The Great Blek ( Il grande Blek ) established in 1987. The film was shown at the Berlinale 1988.

His film Not of This World ( Fuori dal mondo ) won the 1999 David di Donatello five and was nominated for four more. In 2001, light ran my eyes ( Luce dei miei occhi ) in competition at the International Film Festival of Venice and the two actors Luigi Lo Cascio and Sandra Ceccarelli received the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor.

The life that I always wanted (La vita che vorrei ) from 2004 was shown at the Berlinale 2005 in the Panorama section. In 2004 he was one of the founders of Liberia del Cinema di Roma, which is located in the Trastevere district of Rome. His film of 2009 Giulia is never out at night ( Giulia non esce la sera ) came on 1 September 2011 in the German cinemas.
