Giv’ati-Brigade

The Giv'ati Brigade (Hebrew חטיבת גבעתי, Chativat Giv'ati ) is an infantry brigade of the Israeli armed forces.

It was formed in December 1947 and placed under the command of Shimon Avidan. She took both at the surgical Nahshon part in the Avidan held the command, as well as in the operation Jo'av ( 15 to 22 October 1948). Here was their task to occupy the areas of Hulikat of Kawkaba and from that branch, known as the " Giv'ati branch " today. She was later dissolved. Known commanders of the brigade were Juval Ne'eman, Haim Bar - Lev and Tzwi Zamir.

1983, a new brigade of the same name was founded. Since 1999 it is under the Southern Command. Giv'ati soldiers are indicated by purple -colored berets. The symbol of the brigade is the fox.
