Gladwin County, Michigan

Gladwin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Gladwin.

Geography

The County is located just north-east of the geographic center of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and has an area of ​​1338 square kilometers, of which 25 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Ogemaw County, Arenac County, Bay County, Midland County, Clare County and Roscommon County.

History

Gladwin County formed in 1831 as an original county of free territory. It was named after Henry Gladwin, a British military commander.
