Gladys George

Gladys George (* September 13 1904 in Patten, Maine, † December 8, 1954 in Los Angeles, California; actually Gladys Clare Evans ) was an American actress.

Life & Career

Her film debut was in 1919 in Red Hot Dollars. Your first big success was Gladys George in 1936 Valiant Is the Word for Carrie. For the role of Carrie Snyder, she was nominated for an Oscar. A year later she starred alongside Spencer Tracy as the female lead in 1918 - The peace broke out. In 1941, she was the partner of Humphrey Bogart in The Maltese Falcon. 1951 George turned her last film The Silver City and only appeared in television productions until her death in 1954.

Gladys George was temporarily married to the actors Leonard Penn and Ben Erway.
