Gladys Heldman

Gladys Medalie Heldman ( born May 13, 1922 in New York City; † 22 June 2003) was the American founder of World Tennis Magazine and the Virginia Slims Circuit, the precursor of the WTA Tour.

Biography

Gladys Heldman was the founder, owner, chief editor and journalist for the first time in 1953 published World Tennis Magazine, the voice of the sport, and led the magazine for more than two decades. The World Tennis Magazine was sold mid -1970s from her. She supported Billie Jean King and other female tennis players on the Virginia Slims Circuit has established. In 1979, due to their contributions to the sport of tennis, the induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

She was married to Julius Heldman and has two daughters (Carrie and Julie Heldman ).
