Glarus Nord

Glarus Nord is a municipality ( commune unit ) in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland.

It was created as part of the Glarus government reform by the merger of municipalities Bilten, Filzbach, Mollis, mill Horn, Naefels, Lower urns, urns and top fruit Alden and has been in force since 1 January 2011.

Geography

The municipality of Glarus Nord basically comprises the part of the Glarus Linthebene, the lower Linthtal and the Kerenzerberg down to the Lake Walen.

Traffic

Glarus Nord is conveniently moderately well developed. Along the Linth Canal in the north runs the A3 motorway, which Glarus Nord has more connections. The important railway junction - point brick bridge, which lies on the border with the Canton of St. Gallen, so to speak, is the gateway to the whole canton of Glarus. Here hold fast trains from Chur or Buchs SG to Zurich. The railway line to Linthal opens up brick bridge of Glarus. The system operated by the Swiss Federal Railways network of bus operators provide in Glarus Glarus Nord to transport safely.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was newly created. The eight stars symbolize the eight villages, four of which are located on each side of the Linth.

  • Bad Säckingen ( Germany ), with the former town Naefels. This twinning is continued by the municipality of Glarus Nord in the form of a partial partnership cities.
