History
The team was founded in 1997 under the name Glasgow Rugby by the Scottish Rugby Union ( SRU ) in order to send a competitive team in the Heineken Cup can. Due to the strained financial situation of the SRU rationalization measures decided and put the team two years later with the Caledonia Reds together, which changed its name now under the name Glasgow Caledonians. From 2001, the team took part in the newly formed Celtic League (now Pro12 ). It reached the semi-finals in the first season, but was unable to repeat this success in the coming years. At the beginning of the 2002/ 03 team's name was changed back to Glasgow Rugby. Another name change to today's designation Glasgow Warriors place at the beginning of the season 2005/06.
In the season 2009/ 10, 2011 /12 and 2012/13, the Warriors reached the third place in the championship respectively. By the summer of 2012 they played in the Firhill Stadium. They moved to Scotstoun Stadium, where previously the training base was found.
