Glasite

The Sandemanianer, also called Glassisten were a Christian sect that of John Glass (* 1695, † 1773) and Robert Sandeman (* 1718, † 1771) was established.

History

The Sandemanianer built communities along the lines of the first apostolic community. The church leadership was in the hands of teachers, elders, and a bishop. The focus of the celebration was the Eucharist, whereby foot washing and love feast with Bruderkuss were integral components. In addition to the celebration of the Eucharist, the interpretation of Scripture belonged to the fairs, which lasted for several hours on Sundays. The Sandemanianer covered a distance from the Bible literally. The municipality financed itself through donations that have been paid into the municipal treasury. Entertainments such as games of chance were prohibited. There were churches in England, Scotland and USA, which had usually not more than 100 members. With the death of the last elders in 1999 in Edinburgh, the sect is considered extinct.
