Glauburg

Glauburg is a German municipality in the district of Wetterau in Hesse. Historically a part of the place to Oberhessen.

The municipality consists of the villages of Glauberg and floor home.

Geography

Glauburg is located adjacent to the foot of the mountain birds to the landscape Wetterau.

Neighboring municipalities are in the north west, the municipality Ranstadt, in the northeast of the city Ortenberg, in the southeast of the city Budingen, in the west with the municipality of the Old City and in the west of the city Florstadt.

History

Glauberg was first mentioned in the year 802. Stock home first appeared in 1198 on in a document. see also Castle Glauburg

Until 1806 Glauberg belonged to the territory of the Counts of Stolberg- Gedern. Stock home belonged until 1816 to the territory of the Princes of Isenburg - Büdingen.

The community " Glauburg " has been formed with the municipal reform in Hesse by the merger of the former municipalities Glauberg and floor home on July 1, 1971.

Public institutions

  • The volcano bike path is built on the old railway track Stock Home Lauterbach ( Hessen) and to the Old town extended as part of the railway cycle path Hesse, of about 250 km by the Vogelsberg and Rhön leads on former railway lines.
  • A football field and a gymnasium or a village hall is available in each district.
  • In the district of floor home are the public kindergarten, private kindergarten and the farm Keltenberg Elementary School.

Culture and sights

The Keltenfürst

  • In the Archaeological Park Glauberg a Celtic princely grave mound was discovered and several graves from the 5th century BC between 1994 and 2000 during excavations.

The German special stamp " Keltenfürst Glauberg " (144 Ct, run:. 17 million, graphic: Werner Schmidt, Frankfurt am Main ) from the series Archaeology in Germany was on 7 January 2005 by the Parliamentary State Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance Karl Diller ( MP ) presented in Büdingen.

  • The Glauberg Museum displays finds from the Palaeolithic to the High Middle Ages.
  • A separate museum building on the Glauberg, the Celts am Glauberg, was opened on 6 May 2011. This museum was funded in part by the State of Hesse and the community. Shortly after the opening of the building was awarded the Hessian Architecture Award 2011 for model building. Visually and floating out of the mountain there through his picture window a view of the reconstructed Celtic grave mounds.
