Glen Benton

Glen Benton ( born June 18, 1967 in New York) is an American bassist and singer of the death metal band Deicide and ex- vocalist of the death metal band Vital Remains.

Participation in Deicide

His musical career started in 1987 at the Benton band Amon, who shortly afterwards in Deicide (German: , deicide ') renamed. The image of the band as well as the content of the song lyrics go back to Benton, who was interested in since his early youth for occultism and Satanism. His interest in these subjects began when he got books recommended nine or ten years of his aunt, who is a practicing black witch, and later was allowed to participate in satanic rituals. He described himself as a Satanist, but it is unclear whether this was done only for the sake of provocation or not. Benton bears on his forehead the branding of an inverted cross.

In Deicide always Benton was at the forefront and gave the interviews. His bandmates Steve Asheim (drums) and the Hoffman brothers ( guitar ) talking in the background. Since the revenue of the band in the wake of the bill were distributed to Earache Records no longer uniform, but proportionately, Brian and Eric Hoffman felt financially disadvantaged and cheated. Glen Benton from 2003 to 2005, Vital Remains active as a singer. In addition, he served as a guest vocalist on the albums Harmony Corruption by Napalm Death, Death Shall Rise by Cancer and Eaten Back to Life and Butchered at Birth by Cannibal Corpse. He has also sung at the Roadrunner United the song Annihilation by the Hands of God project. In 2007 he published with Vital Remains Icons of Evil album.

Radio appearances

Glen Benton had in the nineties a small career as a radio talk host, such as Bob Larson's talk -back show in which he often took on Christian Talk guests.
