Glen Tetley

Glen Tetley ( born February 3, 1926 in Cleveland, USA, † January 26, 2007 in West Palm Beach, Florida) was an American dancer and choreographer.

His life

Tetley studied dentistry. So it was that he late, turned to only 19 years, after the end of World War II, the dance. He received his education at Hanya Holm, a student of Mary Wigman, Martha Graham in New York and also with George Balanchine. After Tetley danced with the American Ballet Theatre, the Joffrey Ballet and Jerome Robbins.

From 1962 to 1970 Tetley worked alongside Hans van Manen as co- choreographer at Nederlands Dans Theater, for two seasons as its artistic director. After the sudden death of John Cranko Tetley took over in 1974 for two seasons, the Directorate of the Stuttgart Ballet. This hitherto purely mainly classical dance troupe he showed the new language of movement of modern dance. Among his most important choreographies were " Le sacre du printemps " and " Daphnis and Chloé ". But after just two seasons, he left Stuttgart. His successor there was Marcia Haydée, the prima ballerina of the Stuttgart Ballet.

Tetley henceforth worked exclusively as a freelance choreographer. As a guest choreographer created and he oversaw the rehearsals of his popular especially in the Anglo-Saxon countries, a total of about 70 plants.
