Glenn Close
Glenn Close ( born March 19, 1947 in Greenwich, Connecticut ) is an American actress.
Family and Education
Her father William T. Close, a physician and author, took over in 1960, the management of a hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Glenn Close spent her youth are alternately in the central African country and in boarding schools such as the Rosemary Hall ( Greenwich) in New England. She attended the College of William and Mary in Virginia and received her degree in drama and anthropology.
Career
Glenn Close started her acting career in her last year of college education at the Broadway Theatre. In 1980 she was first nominated for the Tony Award, in 1982 she received the first of three awards.
In the same year she was for her first film role in Garp and how he saw the world nominated for Best Supporting Actress Oscar. In the following six years, followed by four other nominations, including but not Best Actress in Fatal Attraction and Dangerous Liaisons - they could win the award, however, not yet. Another Oscar nomination followed in 2012 for the title role in the period drama Albert Nobbs ( 2011).
Since the 1990s, they increasingly took on even television roles. For the lead role in The Lion in Winter 2005, she received an Emmy nomination and won a Golden Globe. In 2005, she joined the main cast of the TV crime series The Shield, in 2008, she was again for the TV series Damages - the power awarded a Golden Globe. For the role of Patty Hewes Attorney - Star they also received the 2008 and 2009 Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
In the U.S. cartoon series The Simpsons she spoke in several episodes Mona J. Simpson. Also noteworthy is her cameo in Hook by Steven Spielberg. In the film she played the male pirate who is locked in a box.
Private life
Close is married for the third time since February 2006. She has a daughter from a previous relationship and lives mostly in New York.
German dubbing voices
In the movies and series Glenn Close is synchronized for the German versions of various German announcers. However Kerstin Sanders- Dornseif and Hallgard Bruckhaus can be heard again and again from the beginning. Uta Hallant, as well as seven other speakers give the actress her voice.
In two cases, Glenn Close respectively the grandmother in the animated films dubbed Hoodwinked Red Riding Hood and The ultimatum was taken over the role of Hans Werner Olm and Michael Pan.
