Glenn D'Hollander

Glenn D' Hollander ( born December 28, 1974 in Sint -Niklaas ) is a former Belgian racing cyclist and current sports director.

Career

In juniors times D' Hollander could draw attention to itself as a national runner-up in 1991. He also won the following year, the national champion in the time trial and 1994 he finished third in the Belgian Time Trial Championship for amateurs. As an amateur, experienced D' Hollander 1995 his most successful season: a podium place at the one-day races Brussels Opwijk followed victories in the GP Bodson and on the eighth stage of the Tour of Austria, where he was third in the overall standings as well. A first, a second and third stage rank he was able to pull Ardennaise in triptyque, and besides, he was also on a section of the Tour de la Région Wallonne victorious.

1996 D' Hollander professional with Vlaanderen 2002. His first victory was as a professional cyclist, he celebrated the one-day races Schaal Sels. Again he won a stage of the Tour of Austria. At the Tour de l' Avenir, the main tour for young drivers, he finished third in the overall standings. The following season, D' Hollander again won a stage of the Tour de la Région Wallonne.

Also successful were the following two years with victories at Eurode Omloop in the Netherlands and on the first stage of the Circuito Montañes in Spain, where he also was second in the overall standings.

In 2000 he moved then to the great Belgian cycling team lotto. In the following season he won a stage in which UNIQA Classic and his third so far in the Tour de la Région Wallonne, where he was able to win this time for the first time Appreciation for themselves. He took a third place at the Belgian Championships in the time trial. In 2001 he also participated in his first major tour of the country, the Giro d'Italia, where he however had to give up after the seventh stage.

His last professional victory he celebrated the Étoile de Bessèges 2002. Thereafter, D' Hollander was mainly helper with lottery and was able to pull not a good result. This does not he succeeded, as he in 2005 to the smaller Belgian team changed Landbouwkrediet. After one year there, he joined for two years at the club chocolate Jacques. The criterion of Gullegem he won in 2007 his first podium finish in five years. For the 2008 season D' Hollander eventually returned to the team back Omega Pharma-Lotto. Plagued by health problems, however, he could enter no more success.

Glenn D' Hollander finished the end of the 2010 season and his career was sports director of the UCI Women 's Team Topsport Vlaanderen- Ridley, 2012.

Trivia

D' Hollander is the sibling of Greg Van Avermaet with which he started at Omega Pharma-Lotto.
