Glenn English

Glenn Lee English, Jr. ( born November 30, 1940 in Cordell, Washita County, Oklahoma) is an American politician. Between 1975 and 1994 he represented the sixth electoral district of the state of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Glenn English attended the public schools of his home and then 1960-1964 the Southwestern State College in Weatherford. Between 1965 and 1971 he was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve. Then he went into the gas and oil business. He also worked in the insurance industry and the property market.

Politically English was a member of the Democratic Party. In the House of Representatives from California, he was an administrative employee of the faction of his party. Between 1965 and 1968 he held the same function in the U.S. House of Representatives. Between 1969 and 1973 he was chairman of his party in Oklahoma. In 1974 he was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen as a replacement for John Newbold Camp of the Republican Party on January 3, 1975. In the following years he was in each case confirmed in his office. Thus he remained until his resignation on January 7, 1994 Member of Congress.

His resignation was because he was Chairman of the Board in Arlington (Virginia) -based National Rural Electric Cooperative Association ( NRECA ).
