Glenn McGrath

Glenn Donald McGrath ( born February 9, 1970 in Dubbo, New South Wales ) is a former Australian cricketer and one of the most highly regarded fast- bowler in this sport. He scored 563 wickets in Test matches in his career, more than any other fast bowler.

Overall, Glenn McGrath completed 124 tests during his career. His first Test match for Australia McGrath graduated in November 1993 against New Zealand in Perth. Since the mid- 1990s he was part of the standard instrumentation of the national team, and together with Shane Warne a feared bowler team. In 2006 he announced that he would completely withdraw from the sport after the Cricket World Cup 2007. His last test match he played in the Ashes series 2006/2007 against England. During his career, McGrath 250 One- Day International matches played. The Australian team won Glenn McGrath three times the Cricket World Cup ( 1999, 2003 and 2007). At the Cricket World Cup 2007, he scored the most wickets (26 ) of all players. With this performance, he was awarded the title ' Player of the Tournament ' awarded. He is also with 71 wickets most successful bowler in history of the World Cup.

The first wife of McGrath, Jane McGrath, with whom he has two children, died in 2008 after a long illness with cancer. Both had in common during the illness of a charity, the McGrath Foundation, established in life, dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. Since 2010, McGrath is married again.
