Glenner

The Glenner (Romansh: Glogn ) is the largest by far tributary of the Anterior Rhine and passes in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. Glenner was also the name of an existing district to 2001, this Canton, whose territory is now part of District Surselva.

Course

The wild river rises near the border with the Canton of Ticino. He is here surrounded by more than 3100 m high mountains ( Piz Terri, 3149 m) and then flows through the Val Lumnezia. In the upper reaches of the river has cut a deep gorge that has a few places black shale. In Suraua the Glenner takes its most important, it significantly in size and length surpassing Creek, Vals Rhine, on and opens after a good 10 km stretch of river at Illanz in the Anterior Rhine. He has here an average flow rate of almost 9 m³ / s; during snowmelt and after rainfall the river is mostly dark gray water.
