Global IP Solutions (GIPS, formerly "Global IP Sound ") was a formerly traded on the Oslo Stock Exchange corporation with headquarters in San Francisco, California. It turned embedded systems zur real-time communication over IP - based networks. The company was founded in July 1999 by Roar Hagen ( CTO), Bastiaan Kleijn (Chief Scientist ), Espen Fjogstad and Ivar T. Hognestad in Stockholm and bought in May 2010 by Google Inc. for 68.2 million U.S. dollars. Main competitor at the time was the company SPIRIT DSP. At Global IP Solutions including the internet Low Bitrate Codec emerged ( iLBC ), the internet Speech Audio Codec ( iSAC ) and the presentation of the WebRTC framework.
