Glove compartment

A glove compartment is a storage in a personal or trucks.

It is usually located above the front passenger footwell, integrated into the dashboard. For most models, it is closed by a flap which can be partially completed in addition to the vehicle key. In vans but also open models are common.

Frequently in the inside of the flap pin and cup holders are integrated in modern vehicles with air-conditioning is often possible to let cold air flow into the glove compartment to cool food in it.

The term glovebox is because in early automobiles (often without a solid roof and heating) were an important piece of equipment for drivers gloves to protect your hands from cold drafts - like today with motorcyclists - and the car manufacturers therefore a storage option devised for gloves in the car.
